About me:

 

I began my career as a financial advisor and asset manager with Raymond James Financial. Early on, I created a financial advisory division of a health insurance third-party administrator (TPA) to offer financial planning services to the TPA’s clients.

 

My experience gave me far more insight into the inner workings of health insurance than most financial planners, so I began to specialize in that space. In 1992, I started my employee benefits company. After a brief period when I focused on real estate brokerage, development, and home building, I began to resume my focus on helping individuals and small business owners navigate the murky waters created by the so-called “Affordable” Care Act. I’m an independent broker representing virtually every life and health insurance company. As such, I don’t attempt to sell you a specific product but rather advise you on what I believe to be the best options for you. When the real estate market began to boom in the mid-90s, my passion for real estate was ignited, primarily because I helped some of my financial planning clients increase their cash flow, net worth, and quality of life by taking advantage of the rapid appreciation in home values. 

 

Shortly thereafter, I began building homes on a speculative basis while continuing to serve the public as a financial planner and asset manager. Soon, I fell in love with the building of homes, sold my insurance and investment business, and devoted my full attention to growing a premier home-building company. My home building company expanded to include residential subdivision development and real estate brokerage, culminating with four quality Madison subdivisions and over 200 high-quality homes in the suburbs of Jackson, MS, mainly in Madison County. As a real estate broker, I have sold over $100 million in real estate and recruited, hired, and trained over two dozen real estate agents, many of whom were and are the area's top producers.

Then came the real estate crash and the Great Recession that followed. To make matters worse, the "Affordable Care Act" was passed at that same time, which devastated the health insurance industry. The two businesses I had invested twenty years developing were decimated, so I had to start again in 2010.

As always, there were and are people who seek supply and demand, and I soon discovered a company that had the idea of offering an affordable indemnity plan as an alternative to Obamacare plans. This is how I began rebuilding my health insurance business. 

The real estate market began to improve somewhat in 2015, and Darryl started up a new home-building company, which built about a half dozen homes in the Madison, Mississippi area. Then came the election of President Trump in 2016. 

Love him or hate him, there is no denying that when he signed his name on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, which also eliminated the penalty for not adhering to the ACA's mandate, he revived the individual health insurance industry and created an opportunity for you to purchase affordable, private insurance, based on your needs and budget, outside of the government exchange. 

I quickly retrained his focus on providing individual health insurance and employee benefits services. Utilizing his sales experience and industry knowledge, he obtained wholesale agreements with a background checks company and a social media investigation company. Subsequently, he entered sub-agency agreements with well-established employee benefits agencies, instantly providing dozens of agents offering these services over a three-state area. 

Today, my general agency contracts with several high-quality providers of individual and group health insurance and has access to virtually every available life, health, dental, and medicare supplement product. Most importantly, I'm doing what I love again: helping people improve their finances and protect their assets.
